Flapjacks, Pancakes, and Waffles.

I had a few moments to myself the other day and I got to thinking about what I like to call, the “Family Flapjack.” To be clear, I don’t mean “Family Flapjack” in reference to some kind of pancake that’s been passed down from generation to generation. No, that’s weird and a little yucky. I mean Family Flapjack as in “all members of the genus “flapjack” including pan-fried cakes, iron-cooked waffles, and other tasty breakfast treats. Maybe it would have been easier just to say “Flapjack Family.” No, but then that sounds like I’m talking about some kind of singing group

Forget it, you get the idea. I was thinking about all kinds of flapjacks.

I do like them.

I like them with syrup, or fruit, whipped cream, even gravy (though that’s not as often.) I like them late at night, as breakfast-for-dinner, and at the traditional breakfast-time. I will admit to taking more than I can eat. I always start out thinking, “Wow, flapjacks sound great,” and I pick up a whole stack! Then after the first dozen or so I think, “What was I thinking taking so many flapjacks?”

I always think I can eat more than I actually can. I’m just a little fellow.

I hear over in Britain that “flapjacks” are totally different than pancakes, but that’s okay. I’m willing to give it a try and I say the more variety then better! Besides, I’m less interested in our differences and more interested in the things that bring us together. If Tiny Scarecrow and (whatever British Tiny Scarecrow is … let’s say Wee Straw Fellow) if they get together at breakfast-time it doesn’t matter if one has pancakes and one has British flapjacks and one, (lets say that’s German Scarecrow – Kleine-crow if you will,) maybe he has waffles and it’s all good! Why? Because breakfast foods inspire unity. When you’re talking flapjacks, you’re talking Peace.

So what’s your favorite? Flapjacks, waffles, pancakes, or maybe even toast? That’s great! This morning, think about Tiny Scarecrow, and have a short stack!

You see where I went with that?
